Summer Activity

Unlike the rest of the motorcycle racing world in July, the schedule for CCS takes a little break between June and September. It's only 115 in shade and track temps are 180+.(who needs tire warmers!) We have been getting the bike prepared for the next practice session and race. Our fuel pump problem seems to be resolving, especially with the help a good friend, Scott. He found a used pump for us to replace the old one, instead of the $700 quote the local Suzuki dealer wanted. Thanks Scott!
Tom Hilsdorf is painting the new skins in a red and white theme and we look forward to seeing the results of his creativity. We'll post some pictures when done.
We are also waiting for our new rear Penske shock to come in so we can install and tune to Skyler. We think this will stabilize the bike more for corners and lessen his mid race dismounts, though he did score a 9.7 for the last low side slide and gravel recovery.
We have also taken a well earned vacation. Skyler and I rode around California from Santa Barbara to San Francisco and back down to Monterey for Laguna Seca's Moto GP 2007. What a blast! Great riding weather, fantastic racing and some good times shared between us.
The nights at Monterey were cool, literally 60 degrees! That beats Phoenix's 110 at midnight anyday. Chris Pfeiffer from Red Bull & BMW did a trick riding show on Alvarado Street in Monterey and thrilled the crowd. We have seen him in Koln Germany before at Intermot, but he exciting to watch everytime. Just when you think he has lost it and is about to crash into the crowd, he pulls a stoppie and kisses a girl over the security rail. He then spins, rides full speed to the other end and does 720 degree spins and more. Incredible to watch.
Then back to the track the next day to watch the GP race. We had grandstand tickets but moved around the track checking everything out. I had a new camera system, but catching the bikes at almost 200mph is challenging, even for the pros. Photos from Laguna Seca and other events can be seen at http://www.conpix.smugmug.com/ Just select a gallery and you can view all the shots.
Racing time is nearing and we are working hard to do well this fall. Wish us luck, and safe riding to everyone.
